Here is the first of a new devotional series for the 12 days of Christmas. It will take around 5mins to read – we hope it helps during this Christmas season.
Read: John 1:1-5, 14 – 18 & Isaiah 7:14
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15(John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'”) 16And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
Isaiah 7:14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Today, as we ponder the immensity of God’s love, the incomprehensible act of God dwelling with His people. We remember that following Jesus goes beyond just having faith in Jesus – our faith is Jesus.
Jesus is Forgiveness.
Jesus is Hope.
Jesus is Eternal Life.
We wonder in the gift, we know that this Jesus is our all in all: the goal of our living, the reason we exist.
Our faith is Jesus.
Father of all, thank you for this day, thank you for your grace, thank you for the hope, thank you for the word, the faith, the son of God – Christ Jesus. May we take time today and everyday to dwell on Jesus, the author and perfecter of it all. In His name for His glory. Amen
